CERAMIC FROM SEVILLA (DRY CORD) - Part 1 -

Artecer, is very well know manufactory of these ceramic plates from Seville (Spain).

These plates are enameled in 24 K gold. This work, known as "Cuerda Seca" (it could be translated to “Dry Cord” technique), it was brought buy the Arabs to Spain in the 8th. century. And since then, this ceramic craftsmanship has been made in Spain.

You might notice a two very different styles. One is the pure geometrical design, which is the original style. This style has much more work and also more gold, so obviously that are more expensive.

The more colorful one (Which sells more) is a baroque evolution of the Arabic design, and it's also cheaper, which can help if you don't what to spend to much money.

Obviously these ceramic plates are made just for decoration. They are delicate plates,I would not leave them outside.

All these Craftsmen make are plates and watches. Everything is made on flat surfaces, as the enamel is poured on to the plate, so if it was not flat, guess what, it would dribble over the place.
